I long to stare into a dancing flame
To the rhythmic drumming of the winter rainAs its icy fingers strum the window pane
I shall hold you tightly to my heart again.
In my soft caress your head shall lay
With our souls fulfilled in every way
Like lovers in sweet summer hay
Entwined in life’s most glorious day
Together we’ll gaze into the amber glow
As the night grows old and the fire burns low
We’ll ask ourselves why it should be so
That the more we learn.......... the less we know.
As the rays of the morning sun distil
On the watery gloss of the window sill
I shall feel the warmth of your heartbeat still
As it renders mute the morning chill.
And there in the warmth of the rising sun
With the waltz of the dancing flame near done
And the rest of our days on earth to run
I will whisper softly “ You’re the one”
